Her Majesty's Theatre

Theatre in London's West End. Its name has changed multiple times over the years to reflect the gender of the reigning monarch.
Originally opened as The Queen's (Queen Anne) on 9th April 1705, becoming The King's Theatre (King George I) in 1714. The Theatre was destroyed by fire in 1789, rebuilt 1791.
In 1837 it became Her Majesty's Theatre, Italian Opera House (Queen Victoria), dropping the second half in 1847 when it became associated with Covent Garden. Destroyed by fire in 1867, rebuilt in 1869 but not used until 1875. Demolished again in 1891, rebuilt 1897.
Name changed to His Majesty's Theatre (King Edward VII) in 1901, then back to Her Majesty's Theatre (Queen Elizabeth II) in 1952.
